Yellow Season, 2026
Encaustic on wood panel
Materials: beeswax, damar resin, pigment
92 × 122 × 2 cm
This work depicts the rapeseed fields of County Down, where vivid yellow flowers briefly transform the countryside each year. Painted from memory in encaustic, the diptych is inspired by the atmospheric pink and grey skies that so often hang over the landscape, their light illuminating the fields below. For a few short weeks, these humble flowers bring an extraordinary brightness to the land.
