Yellow Season, 2026

Encaustic on wood panel
Materials: beeswax, damar resin, pigment
92 × 61 × 2 cm

This work depicts the rapeseed fields of County Down, where vivid yellow flowers briefly transform the countryside each year. Painted from memory in beeswax, it is inspired by the atmospheric pink and grey skies that illuminate the vivid colours of the fields and trees below. For a few short weeks, these humble flowers bring an extraordinary brightness to the landscape.
