Yellow Season: After the Trees, 2026

Encaustic on wood panel
Materials: beeswax, damar resin, pigment
92 × 61 × 2 cm

Two dead trees stand among the brilliant yellow rapeseed fields of County Down, their bare branches fixed against a landscape growing and changing around them.

The painting reflects on the way life continues after loss. The trees remain part of the landscape, not hidden or replaced, while the fields return to flower. It is about absence, memory and the quiet persistence of the world, which carries on while cradling what is gone.
